I have joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Program in effort to help make a difference in the fight against cancer!
I will join thousands of people to run the Half Marathon!
LEUKEMIA FACTS:· The blood-related cancers affect 640,000 Americans · #1 cause of death in children under 15 years of age· Over the past 25 years, has been the third fastest rising cancer in the country· The Good News is that the survival rate has risen from 4% in 1960 to 80% in the last decade
Each runner gets an honored patient to run and raise support for. I will be sponsoring Elizabeth and Mathew, two children that both have Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Elizabeth is currently undergoing treatment and Mathew is in remission.
The above picture is of me, Mathew, and a friend I have made through the program, Sherry. Mathew has had Leukemia twice now and has severe brain damage from the chemo treatments. He and his mother live 60 miles away from Dallas. She told us that the $$ we raise helps pay for food & hotel when they have to stay overnight for treatments, as well as medicine. She feels so strongly about the organization that she too has raised money and ran a marathon.
